THE CANALS OF BRUGES, BELGIUM

About an hour and a half north of us is Bruges; a quaint city with lots of canals, chocolate shops, cobblestones and artists painting the pretty scenes.  We had a little lunch right in the square.  In the sun it was nice and warm.  We took a nice ride on a canal boat and surprisingly they were able to speak English and the guide gave us a lot of interesting information about Bruges.

THIS HOUSE WAS APPARENTLY USED IN THE MOVIE "LOVE STORY"

IF YOU WANT TO CLIMB 365 STEPS YOU CAN GET TO THE TOP OF THIS BELFRY

THIS IS THE CHURCH OF OUR LADY CATHEDRAL;  IT TOOK TWO CENTURIES TO BUILD AND IT'S ALL BRICK.  THE 400 FOOT TOWER ISN'T GOING ANYWHERE; IT'S MASSIVE.

WE LITERALLY HAD TO DUCK WHEN WE WENT UNDER THIS BRIDGE.

THIS IS THE OLDEST BRIDGE IN BRUGES;  IT WAS BUILT IN THE 14TH CENTURY AND IT HAS NEVER NEEDED REPAIR OR RENOVATION!  THEY SURE NEW HOW TO BUILD THEM BACK THEN!

DERICK ENJOYING OLD EUROPEAN CHARM

LOVE THIS DOORKNOB!!
